From the smallpox epidemic of 1782, through the fur trade, the gold rush, and the ear of settlement, this presentation looks at the major events that have shaped the relationships between Coast Salish people and the British/Canadians who came to regard southwest British Columbia as their home. The presentation works to describe and interpret historical issues in ways that will help people better understand contemporary issues. The aim is to provide people with foundational information and interpretation that they can then use to help build genuine reconciliation.
