Abbotsford is growing up. We are a desired destination because of our stable economy, our climate, and our relatively affordable housing. We are experiencing not just rapid growth, but also rapid changes in the way we work, play and move through the region. We need to acknowledge that the future isn’t what it used to be. Regional transportation growth plans need to reflect this new reality and how it will impact our region. Adding lanes to Hwy 1 will do nothing to stop “induced traffic”. We own a rail corridor with passenger rights that could and should be considered, complementing our regional transportation strategy.
