23. Kidnapped: Vulnerable Children in the Fur Trade and Gold Rush Eras

In this presentation Keith Carlson will share results from his ongoing research into the history of Sto:lo children and families.  Peering back in time to the era before residential schools, Prof. Carlson's research reveals the ways in which Indigenous youth were literally kidnapped and their labour exploited by HBC fur traders and Fraser River gold miners.
