Most people adopt ketogenic diets primarily to lose weight - and it has been clinically verified as the best way to lose weight and body fat, and keep it off. Even more important, however, is that well formulated ketogenic diets, like the BioDiet, have been scientifically proven to be an effective treatment for many chronic diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s. These are the most common chronic diseases that negatively affect quality of life and shorten lifespans. The three factors that cause and aggravate these chronic diseases are obesity, insulin resistance, and inflammation: the “Axis of Illness”.
In this talk Dr. David G. Harper, author of BioDiet, a Visiting Scientist at the BC Cancer Research Centre, Terry Fox Laboratory, and Associate Professor of Kinesiology at the University of the Fraser Valley, will share his clinical experience counselling people on ketogenic diets and explain, in an engaging, approachable, and entertaining manner, how ketogenic diets improve the three elements of the Axis of Illness, greatly reducing the risk of chronic disease and treating those already afflicted. He will share some of the latest scientific evidence from robust, evidence-based, research and also address some of the common myths and misconceptions about ketogenic diets.
